Trip to Holland to buy our new bikes
We set off very early on Thursday morning ready for a very long day! Having booked the van, ferry and appointment at the factory we were excited at the prospect of starting our new company.
We had decided months ago that we wanted to import and sell Dutch town bikes primarily in Cambridge/London but feel so excited at what we have found, that we see no reason why we can't share our collection of beautiful bikes nationally.
So, we found ourselves driving through Northern France, The Netherlands and then Holland. After an exhausting 10 hours and far too much coffee we arrived at the factory. The journey was well worth it as we found ourselves confronted with more bikes to choose from than we could have imagined.
The range that we were drawn to was the classic Dutch Oma bike. Stylish, cool, affordable and a range of colours that would excite all ages. We bought the whole range!
Although tired, we drove back feeling excited at the prospect of introducing our Dutch bike range to the British public. Most Dutch roads have cycleways alongside them and every other car seemed to have a pair of Oma bikes strapped to the back. The British may be behind the Dutch when it comes to cycling but the introduction of 5000 bikes by The Mayor of London to the capital and more and more cities promoting cycling we realised that we had made the right decision.
So why the blog? Because we want as many people to find mybeautifulbike and begin their cycling journey with us and share our vision.
